City Offers Way to Rid Homes of Toxic Waste

Public works crews from Thousand Oaks will be accepting household hazardous wastes at a drop-off center in Newbury Park today.

Residents of Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park and the unincorporated areas of Ventura County are welcome to drop off paint products, thinners and solvents, used motor oil, batteries and other toxic materials. The drop-off site is at 1993 Rancho Conejo Blvd.

The service is free to the public.

Appointments can be made by calling the Thousand Oaks Recycling Department at (805) 449-SAVE.

Those without an appointment, can drop off waste at the site between 1:30 and 3 p.m. only.

Some products will not be accepted, including tires and radioactive or commercial waste.
