Architect Honored by USC
Chester A. Widom has been named alumnus of the year of the USC School of Architecture and will be honored May 14 at a benefit dinner sponsored by the Architectural Guild.
Widom, a past president of the American Institute of Architects, was head of the Los Angeles Headquarters City Assn. for two terms and is a founder and past president of Alternative Living for the Aged, a nonprofit organization that provides housing alternatives for the elderly. He also serves as a member of the Mayor’s Special Advisory Task Force for the Renovation of City Hall.
“Chet Widom’s commitment to architecture and society is exemplified by his professional work on a broad variety of projects for a diverse group of clients and by his public service work,” said Bob Timme, the dean of the school.
Among the projects that Widom’s firm has designed are the Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage, Kaiser Permanente Data Processing Center and the Maple Drive restaurant.
