Lawsuit by Sheriff’s Deputy

Share

If there ever was a frivolous lawsuit, it has to be the one filed by Tracy Watson, one of two officers involved in the beating of two illegal immigrants (April 19).

I’m referring to allegations of Watson that his civil rights were violated, when he was questioned and compelled to file a report of the incident.

It is ludicrous to even consider such claims. Anyone who believes them believes the moon is made of green cheese. Here we have a man schooled to, presumably, advise detainees on their Miranda rights, allowing himself to come before his superiors to be questioned, and write reports without asserting his own rights? Sorry, I don’t buy that; his rights weren’t taken from him, he surrendered them.

* Re “Zedillo Condemns Violence to Mexicans,” April 17:

If President Ernesto Zedillo’s government concentrated as much effort keeping Mexican citizens from crossing their northern border as they do keeping South American citizens from crossing their southern border, there wouldn’t be any violence.

President Zedillo says he will intensify diplomatic efforts to protect all Mexican nationals on U.S. soil. This action would be applauded by the U.S. government so long as Mexican nationals and U.S. citizens are protected by the Mexican government.

President Zedillo has it within his power to stop his citizens from violating our borders. Do it, Mr. President! This would prove your genuine concern.
