Gender Gap in National Politics

Share

As I spent Sunday morning reading the Opinion section (April 28), I noticed a trend, the acknowledgment of the gender gap that poses a problem for both sides in the coming presidential elections. Both parties are hurriedly trying to come up with a solution to lure women and their potential votes.

I spent but a mere 10 minutes pondering this problem and I came up with the simple solution--run a woman for president, or in this case vice president. Who better to know what women want than a woman herself? I think that our society has grown a lot from when Geraldine Ferraro ran as the vice presidential candidate in 1984 and lost.

There are endless possibilities to the changes that a woman president could instigate. Her example of a woman’s capabilities could bring about changes throughout the world, helping other countries realize the strength women hold and more importantly enlighten those boys in Washington, who are oblivious to the fact that the answer to their problems lies right here among 150 million women.
