World IN BRIEF : NEW MEXICO : German Pilots to Train at U.S. Base

German Defense Minister Volker Ruehe and U.S. Secretary of Defense William J. Perry opened a German air force tactical training center at a U.S. base in New Mexico. Ruehe said Germany will spend about $160 million over the next three years to train pilots at the Holloman Air Force Base. Twelve Tornado jets, 24 F-4 Phantoms and 300 German pilots will be stationed at the base.
