BankAmerica, Others Bid for Ford Unit: San Francisco-based BankAmerica Corp. and several other large banks and companies have bid for Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford Motor Co.’s USL Capital Corp. leasing unit, industry sources said. They also said the unit, which reported a first-quarter after-tax profit of $47.7 million, would fetch between $1 billion and $2 billion. It has earning assets of about $9.6 billion. Other sources said NationsBank Corp., First Union Corp., and General Electric Co.’s GE Capital were participating in the bidding. Representatives of the companies were either unavailable or declined to comment.
