Wet and Wild Fun at Hurricane Harbor

What mother wouldn’t want to spend Mother’s Day in a tropical paradise, where there are palm trees, waterfalls and a scenic river upon which the family can meander along in a boat? Toss in attractions such as the Taboo Tower, the Lost Temple Rapids and Lightning Falls, and Mom might be a little less enthusiastic--but the kids will have a blast.
All of these attractions and many more are part of the Hurricane Harbor water park, next to Six Flags Magic Mountain. The park, which opened May 4, will be open weekends until May 27; then it will open daily, through Sept. 2.
There are attractions for all ages in the “lost paradise,” including pirate vessels, ancient ruins, a 40-foot volcano and numerous water adventures. This is the second year the water park has been open.
Hurricane Harbor, Magic Mountain Parkway, Interstate 5, Valencia. Admission: $16; children under 48 inches and seniors, $10; ages 2 and younger, free. (805) 255-4111.
