In a shake-up at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in Los Angeles, new transit chief Joseph E. Drew on Wednesday fired two top executives at the troubled agency.
Drew fired Art Leahy from his job as executive officer for operations and Kim Kimball as chief administrative officer.
Drew declined comment, but a source said that Drew wanted a “a leadership team that can follow through with his vision” for the agency.
MTA board Chairman Larry Zarian described Drew as frustrated at the lack of improvements in the nation’s most crowded bus system.
Leahy, a transit veteran from the old Southern California Rapid Transit District, oversaw bus operations. Kimball previously had been a close aide to ousted MTA chief Franklin E. White.
