By the end of the month, an abandoned Broadway department store in Industry may become the feature attraction at Puente Hills Mall.

A San Francisco development company bought the store and hopes to secure a deal with AMC Theaters this month to build a 20-screen, 4,100-capacity movie theater, said Ron Krausz, president of Krausz Cos. Inc.

The company also has plans to buy the rest of the mall from the San Diego-based Hahn Co. and turn the once-lucrative shopping center into “an entertainment center with more restaurants, certain types of arcade users, a large-scale bookstore and . . . a software vendor,” Krausz said.
