Eastside Little League to Open Season

Oxnard Mayor Manuel Lopez will throw the first pitch Saturday to open Oxnard’s Eastside Little League season.

The opening ceremony begins at 8 a.m. in Colonia Park at 1st Street and Juanita Avenue in Oxnard.

“It is always good to see the kids’ faces,” Lopez said. “The enthusiasm is kind of heartwarming.”

Games start at 9 a.m. Norma Anguiano, the league’s snack bar chairwoman, said more than a dozen teams have fielded players this year. The league has also opened a new snack bar, which she said would please many players and parents.

“We have been looking forward to this for the last five years,” Anguiano said.
