Former Dustdevil Barber Signs With Splash

Share

Danny Barber, who bedeviled the Splash two years ago playing for Las Vegas, has signed with the Anaheim indoor soccer team.

Barber, a midfielder who played at Pacifica High and Nevada Las Vegas, scored 32 goals and 53 points in 1994, his rookie season, helping the Dustdevils upset the Splash in the conference semifinals and win the league title.

Barber showed similar consistency last year, scoring 27 goals and 55 points, but Las Vegas folded its franchise and Barber, who grew up in Garden Grove, came home.

He will be reunited with Ian Fulton, the Splash’s new coach. Fulton was an assistant with the Dustdevils the past two years.

Barber and his new teammates will have an open scrimmage at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Arena Soccer Park of Orange. It is free and open to the public. The Splash opens its season June 14 against Dallas at the Pond.
