Magic Says He’s Retired for Good, but . . .

Share

Magic Johnson is a baby. He comes back to the Lakers in mid-season partly disrupting team chemistry, acts holier-than-thou in response to the [Cedric] Ceballos and [Nick] Van Exel incidents before pulling his own brain cramp in a game against Phoenix, and then when the team doesn’t advance in the playoffs even as far as they did last year without Magic, he points the finger at everyone else.

He ought to come back next year for one final season with a renewed resolve to finish what he started and go out on top. And as the consummate “team player” and “winner” he promotes himself to be, he also ought to do so at a cut-rate salary. After all, he didn’t come back for the money but to prove something and for the love of the game, right?
