Volunteers needed:
What: Family literacy program.
Where: Huntington Beach.
Mission: To tutor Latino parents so they can read to their children in English. Next training workshops will be June 1, 8 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Oak View Branch Library, 17251 Oak Lane. Advance registration is required.

What: Friends of the Children’s Library.
Where: Huntington Beach.
Mission: To help promote children’s interest in literature, reading and use of the library. Friends of the Children’s Library meets the first Friday of the month at 9:15 a.m. at Huntington Beach Central Library, 7111 Talbert Ave. The group sponsors events and the summer reading program.
