Interfaith Coalition Formed to Offer Help

Share

Community religious organizations are being asked to support a newly formed interfaith coalition that will recruit and train volunteers to assist elderly, disabled and other people whose needs are not being met by public or private agencies.

The North Orange County Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Coalition, which was officially launched Tuesday, is a project of the Anaheim Religious Community Council.

A $25,000 grant to start the coalition was provided by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and is being matched with in-kind services by Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim.

Serving as executive director of the caregivers coalition is Jim Levy, president of Temple Beth Emet in Anaheim. The interfaith project’s mission statement, Levy said, “is to bring together caring volunteers who work with persons who have special unmet needs to preserve their independence, dignity and quality of life.”

Information on the caregivers coalition is available from Levy at (714) 491-5238.
