Public Has Claim to Crystal Cove

Share

* No sympathy for Crystal Cove occupiers (“Built Upon the Sand,” May 5). They have ignored eviction notices for 16 years from public land paid for by taxpayers. A number of dwellings are second homes, not primary homes.

The occupation is into the fourth and fifth generation of families. The occupants have paid an absolute minimum of rent for a priceless panorama.

There seems to be a reluctance to share this beautiful view with other taxpayers.

If we taxpayers occupied a space in a public parkland beyond the time limit, we would have been dealt with severely.
