Boy Scouts Receive Private Donation of $50,000
Ventura County Boy Scouts of America has received a $50,000 donation for its character, leadership and physical fitness development programs from David H. Murdock, chairman and CEO of Dole Food Co.
The money was raised during the recent Templeton Shark Shoot-Out golf tournament at Sherwood Country Club, which is owned by Murdock.
More than 7,200 young people throughout Ventura County participate in scouting programs. It costs the local council about $100 per Scout to conduct its programs for a year.
