Masked Gunman Holds Up Restaurant
A robber wearing a surgical mask held up a fast-food restaurant Sunday night and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash after firing a shot that struck a piece of kitchen equipment.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said the robber, believed to be in his 20s and about 6 feet tall, approached the walk-up window at the In-N-Out Burger at 1316 Ventura Blvd. in Camarillo at about 9:53 p.m.
Clad in a black baseball cap, a black, hooded sweatshirt and blue pants, the robber demanded cash and displayed a gun to restaurant employees, sheriff’s deputies said. While the employees gathered the money, the robber fired one shot that hit a piece of kitchen equipment, deputies said.
Deputies said the employees handed the robber the cash and he fled the scene, heading west on Ventura Boulevard. The robber was last seen at the intersection of Granada Street and Ventura Boulevard in Camarillo.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on the crime to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 654-2311.
