Flo Jo is no go for the Olympics.

Florence Griffith Joyner and her husband, Al Joyner, said Monday that they will bypass the June 14-23 U.S. Olympic trials in Atlanta because of injuries.

Griffith Joyner, the world-record holder in the 100 and 200 meters and a triple gold-medalist in 1988, had tendinitis in her right knee. Joyner, gold medalist in the triple jump in 1984, has an injured quadriceps muscle in his right leg.

“It’s heartbreaking, it’s heartbreaking for Florence because she was really busting her tail,” Joyner said.

In his last race before the U.S. Olympic trials, Michael Johnson won the 200 meters in 20.23 at an international meet in St. Denis, France.

But that mark was overshadowed by Frankie Fredericks of Namibia, who won the 100 in 9.95, second best in the world this year behind the 9.92 run by Ato Boldon of UCLA and Trinidad at the recent NCAA championships.
