JETHAWKS REPORT : Sealy Misses Wife, Her Expertise

Share

JetHawk catcher Scot Sealy has been playing with a broken thumb since May 11, although the injury wasn’t correctly diagnosed until two weeks ago because of an inaccurate X-ray reading.

Too bad his wife Jennifer, an X-ray technician, wasn’t in town.

“She said, ‘If I had done it, I would have found the break,’ ” Sealy said.

As it is, Jennifer and daughter Lauren, 14 months, will arrive from Mobile, Ala., on Monday to live in Lancaster for the remainder of the season. Sealy, the only father among the JetHawks, is excited about their arrival.

“I hope I’ll turn up my game when they get here,” he said. “It’s hard to be away from your wife and kid so long.”

Before Saturday’s game against San Bernardino, JetHawk pitcher Tim Trawick handed a ball to a batboy and asked him if he could get Stampede pitching coach Charlie Hough to sign it. Trawick is a Hough fan who wears Hough’s No. 49, and, no, he doesn’t throw a knuckleball.

Infielder Sean Drinkwater has been called up to triple-A Tacoma after spending two weeks on the bench with the JetHawks.

Drinkwater, released from the parent Seattle Mariners before spring training because of a broken finger, was recently re-signed. His promotion to Tacoma came after Mariner third baseman Russ Davis suffered a broken ankle Friday.
