Train Talk

Share

Here’s a footnote to the discussion on whether to talk to strangers on a train: (“Portrait of Britain,” Letters, May 5). On a slow train from Nice to Geneva, we had a stimulating conversation with a couple from New Zealand, parting with an exchange of cards and invitations. Years later we spent a most pleasant night at their home and they have a standing invitation to visit us here. But the old Western warning still stands: Don’t play cards with strangers on a train.
