Weather Forecast: Same Old, Same Old
For San Fernando Valley residents who want to know what the weather will be like this week, the answer is: more of the same.
The morning fog and sunny afternoons that have prevailed for days should continue for the foreseeable future.
“It’s going to be painfully the same all week,” said Rob Krohn, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard.
In other words, Krohn said, it’s June.
The fog and low clouds are caused by a deep marine layer of ocean air that at other times of the year is broken up by other weather effects. But with nothing more than a weak high-pressure system hovering over the area, the marine layer has become stronger and deeper.
“This is June to a T,” Krohn said. “This is definition June.”
The marine layer also is being held in place by a temperature inversion layer, meaning that temperatures are higher in the mountains.
Highs across the Valley today will be in the mid- to upper 80s, with a predicted peak of 84 in Burbank, 85 in Van Nuys and Northridge, and 88 in Woodland Hills.
