Disney Buys Stake in Cascadian: A group controlled by Roy Disney has taken majority interest in organic foods marketer Cascadian Farms, the food company said. Gene Kahn, Cascadian Farms’ founder and chief executive, said the Disney group will provide the financial backing to expand the company’s research and development of organic farming and food production. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Cascadian Farms has 42 employees and annual sales of about $20 million, Kahn said. Cascadian Farms, based in Sedro Woolley, Wash., sells more than 150 products, including prepared meals and frozen juice concentrates. It contracts with growers and processors to make its products, although Kahn said the company is exploring manufacturing on its own.
