Storm Eases, Heads to Sea

The remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur moved out to sea Thursday after brushing the North and South Carolina coasts with moderate winds and rain.

Arthur, downgraded from a tropical storm to a tropical depression Wednesday when maximum winds fell below 39 mph, dropped as much as 5 inches of rain on areas of South Carolina and 2 1/2 inches in North Carolina, but no serious damage was reported.
