Ex-NBA Player Gets Prison for Kidnapping
Former professional basketball player Charles Whitney was sentenced to 69 months in prison Thursday for the kidnapping and robbery of White House counsel Mark D. Fabiani last January.
Whitney played two years with the Kansas City (now Sacramento) Kings of the National Basketball Assn. in 1980-81.
Whitney pleaded guilty in April to abducting Fabiani with an accomplice Jan. 26 at a subway stop in Alexandria, Va., and forcing Fabiani to withdraw $1,600 from automatic teller machines. Fabiani, apparently chosen at random as he was on his way home, was released unharmed.
