FAREWELL: After a decade as spiritual leader of the Sepulveda Unitarian-Universalist Society and an active community member, the Rev. Charlotte Shivvers will be leaving the 150-member church as of July 1. She is planning to take a year off before accepting another ministerial call, according to church officials.

During her ministry, the church celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1993 and the 30th anniversary of its onion-shaped building in 1994. The church will use guest speakers and moderators during the summer until the Rev. Barbara Child takes over as interim minister in September.

Shivvers has also been very much involved in the community. She served as president of the San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council in 1991-92 and has been a board member since 1987. She was a member of CSUN President Blenda Wilson’s Community Advisory Council and a co-organizer of San Fernando Valley Clergy Against Prop. 187. She was also active in the North Hills Community Coordinating Council, Witness for Peace, and Friends of the Los Angeles River.

A dinner honoring Shivvers is planned next Friday at the church, 9550 Haskell Ave., North Hills. Social time will begin at 6:30 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Recommended donation is $10 per person. Reservations are due by Wednesday. (818) 894-9251.

REUNION CONCERT: Christian Edition, a Glendale-based men’s chorus, will commemorate its 15th anniversary with a reunion concert employing more than 45 voices at 6:30 tonight in the Hall of Liberty at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Hollywood Hills. The group, directed by Calvin Knipschild of La Verne, began in 1981 when 16 men got together to sing to a local pastor as a birthday gift. During its 15-year history, the group has performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Los Angeles Convention Center, Great Western Forum and the Crystal Cathedral. (818) 984-1711.

PANEL ON SALVATION: An interfaith panel discussion on salvation--titled “Does Humanity Need a Savior, Redeemer, Messiah, Prophet or Manifestation of God?”--will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5338 White Oaks Ave., Encino. Featured panelists include Rabbi Jerald M. Brown, Temple Ahavat Shalom (Jewish); Bishop David Cooper (Orthodox Catholic); Bishop Jack Dahl (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints); Harish Amar (Hindu) and Shamil Erfanian (Baha’i). DIVERSITY SEMINAR: The Rev. Marilyn Huntington, council director of the Conference Council on Ministries, Higher Education and Ecumenical Ministries, will be the keynote speaker at an upcoming seminar titled “Getting to Know You.” The seminar will focus on celebrating the rich diversity of different races and cultures and how local congregations can incorporate this diversity into their churches. SCHOOL ACCREDITATION: Four local Jewish schools received accreditation from the Bureau of Jewish Education, an agency of the Jewish Federation, during a ceremony at the bureau’s board of directors meeting on Thursday. Ten certificates were awarded to schools in Southern California. The San Fernando Valley schools that received accreditation were Adat Ari El Day School and Adat Ari El Religious School of North Hollywood; Shomrei Torah Synagogue Hebrew School of West Hills and Valley Beth Shalom Hebrew School of Encino.

HYMN WRITER: Noted hymn writer Jane Parker Huber will sing some of her works during Sunday morning services at the First Presbyterian Church of North Hollywood. VOICES: A concert titled “The Voices of Our People” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Burbank Temple Emanu El. JEWISH INTERNET RESOURCES: Basic Internet concepts as well as information about Jewish resources on the Internet will be offered in a five-week class beginning July 8 at the University of Judaism. “Introduction to the Internet and Networked Jewish Resources” will cover concepts such as e-mail, file transfer protocol (FTP) and the World Wide Web.
