** Extra Fancy, “Sinnerman,” Atlantic. This L.A. quartet specializes in assertive rock that churns along with subtle rockabilly-surf undertones and a gay lyrical perspective. Sturdy songwriting and tight playing elevate the songs above average, but few of the hooks are quite as memorable as the pointed, sometimes poignant way singer Brian Grillo tackles the personal politics that underscore relationships, both gay and straight.
