Merisel Ends Talks Regarding Sale: The El Segundo-based hardware and software distributor said it made the decision as it continues to review its strategic alternatives. Merisel Inc. said that it is continuing to discuss the sale of some of its businesses with several parties. Merisel hired Merrill Lynch in February to advise it on strategic alternatives such as a partnership, sale of the entire company or sale of parts of the company. Merisel had 1995 sales of $6 billion. It distributes 25,000 products to more than 55,000 resellers worldwide, including more than 750 ComputerLand franchises and Datago affiliates. Merisel stock edged down 31.25 cents to $3.75 on Nasdaq.
