Laguna Beach to Host Arts Project
About 40 outstanding art and drama students from high schools in Orange and Los Angeles counties will take part this summer in the third annual CREATE program.
The Laguna Beach Unified School District program offers students advanced classes in art and drama, studies that are supplemented by visits to Laguna Beach festivals and art galleries. The students were selected by their instructors.
“These are all talented and gifted kids who are really motivated,” said Ken Anderson, a spokesman for the program, which he called a “two-week art boot camp.”
During the July 7-20 session, youngsters from Santa Ana, Pico Rivera and Los Angeles will stay with host families in Laguna Beach. At the program’s conclusion, the students’ artwork will be exhibited at a local gallery and the drama students will give a performance at the Laguna Beach High School Artists’ Theatre.
