Restoration Hardware to Open at Promenade

The Tiffany’s of tools--Restoration Hardware--will open Wednesday at the Promenade at Woodland Hills, bringing specialty home furnishings, tchotchkes and hard-to-find cabinet hardware to the West Valley.

The 8,800-square-foot store is Restoration Hardware’s first Valley venue, and one of only three in the Southland--the others are in Pasadena and Newport Beach. The new store will employ 17 people full- or part-time. About 90% of the employees are from the area, said store manager Brian Lambert.

A gadget and furniture store that would make even homemaking guru Martha Stewart salivate, Restoration Hardware sells weathered garden items, heavy Mission-style furniture, lighting and books, among other merchandise.

According to Lambert, Restoration Hardware is more than just a store, it’s a destination. “It’s an adult amusement store,” Lambert said.

The six-in-one tool, price tag $15, is a multibit screwdriver that eliminates the age-old Phillip’s-or-flathead dilemma.

The addition of the store continues the Promenade’s yuppification. Besides Restoration Hardware, the upscale shopping center boasts a 16-screen AMC theater, two Macy’s (one for each gender) and a Wolfgang Puck’s Cafe.
