Countywide Agency Adds City as Member
The city has joined a new countywide agency representing local governments.
The City Council unanimously approved Villa Park’s entry into the Orange County Council of Governments.
The vote ratified a joint powers agreement between the city and the new council.
Councilman Bob Patchin said that signing up does not obligate Villa Park to spend any money.
One of the stated goals of the new council is “to create a unified subregional organization which will improve Orange County’s abilities to be represented in the Southern California region, in the state of California and the nation on issues and matters that affect collective Orange County interests.”
The council, among other things, will apply for state and federal grants for various countywide studies and projects. Grant money will be used in studies that “assemble information helpful in the consideration of problems peculiar to Orange County.”
