Linda’s Doll Hut in Anaheim has charm, but the club is so cozy that dancers who kick up their heels too freely might end up kicking somebody else. So club owner Linda Jemison is sponsoring weekly Swing Nights on Wednesdays in a bigger hall, the 500-capacity Rhino Room at 7979 Center Ave., Huntington Beach.

Playing tonight: the New Morty Show, an 11-piece band. Eddie Reed’s Big 15 Piece Orchestra is booked for for July 31.

The Rhino Room features local alternative bands each Tuesday, with the Grabbers, Crash Kills Four and Rubber booked for July 9; Soul, Dakota Wildflowers and Perfect Sunday coming July 16; and Delinquent Habits, Bazooka and Dial-7 coming July 23. (714) 892-3316.

GANG BREAKS UP: Breaking up may be hard to do, but National People’s Gang has done it for the second time. The artful and theatrical alterna-band, which got back together three years ago, has failed to find the large audience or record deal that might have enabled it to carry forward the good work it did as one of O.C.’s top grass-roots rock groups of the ‘80s.

“The name was around too long, and people just took us for granted. They weren’t coming to support us like they used to,” says NPG’s guitarist, Chad Forrello. Forrello reports that he and NPG’s drummer, Anthony Arvizu, will start a new band, Call Box, while singer Chad Jasmine and bassist Deyo Glines are carrying on in a new outfit called Liberation Doll.
