Brian Yankelevitz, a Long Beach State basketball player who blacked out three times recently, has been given heart medication by a cardiologist and doctors will continue to monitor his condition, Yankelevitz said Wednesday.

Yankelevitz, who underwent extensive cardiological testing Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, must use the medication for two weeks. He will undergo further testing at the end of the two weeks.

“I feel a lot better,” said Yankelevitz, who is heading into his senior year. “The doctor told me I can go out and play today. There are no limitations on me right now.”

Even so, the 6-foot-8, 245-pound forward/center said he won’t rush to play pickup games.

“They want me to exercise to see how I handle the medication,” Yankelevitz said. “I could go back and play right now but I think I’m going to take it easy.”
