CSUN Fund-Raising Foundation Elects 2

Share

Increasing the ranks of an independent panel that raises money for Cal State Northridge, two Los Angeles-area businessmen have been appointed to the board of the CSUN Foundation, the university has announced.

Elected last month, David L. Buell and Donald K. Skinner will become the 35th and 36th members of the foundation, a nonprofit corporation that owns and operates the retail and food concessions on campus.

Surplus income from those businesses is spent on athletics, scholarships, student and faculty projects and other expenses not funded by the state.

Buell is chief executive officer and founder of Metrobank, a 17-year-old Los Angeles firm that concentrates on commercial lending.

The company was purchased by Detroit-based Comerica in May.

Skinner is president and chief executive officer of Eltron International, a Simi Valley business that designs and manufactures thermal label and plastic card printers and related accessories for health care, retail and other industries.

“We are honored to have these distinguished and talented men joining our board,” said Michael Hammerschmidt, CSUN’s director of development.

“Their skills will be a great asset to the fund-raising efforts at the university.”
