Supreme Court Preference Ruling

Re “Court Lets Stand Ruling Against Race Preference,” July 2:

On July 1, affirmative action received another kick in the teeth from the Supreme Court. Now universities in California, Texas and other states (perhaps all) have to deal with how to maintain racial fairness on their college campuses.

As a black American, I’m grateful for affirmative action. It has served its purpose in forcing doors open previous generations of white-skinned Americans thought only existed for them. Now, the keys to these doors are being taken away. Yet in spite of all this hammering at affirmative action, several universities have stated they will continue to adjust their admissions based on racial background. Bravo! At least some people are using the one thing others don’t seem to have .J.J. common sense.
