Galaxy Will Test Their Reserves in Exhibition With El Salvador

Share

Players not used to playing will get their chances tonight, and midfielder Mauricio Cienfuegos will wear the colors of the enemy, sort of, when the Galaxy plays host to El Salvador’s national team in an exhibition soccer game at the Rose Bowl.

Galaxy Coach Lothar Osiander has said he will look at several unproven players in the game, which begins at 7:30, among them goalkeeper Dan Pascarella, called up this week to replace Jorge Campos, who is training with Mexico’s Olympic team. Eduardo Hurtado will return from duty with Ecuador’s national team and also will play.

Cienfuegos will not play for the Galaxy, suiting up instead for his country. He said this week that he would rather not play at all, but if he had to it would be for his country. Chris Armas will start in his place for the Galaxy.
