AlliedSignal Inc. Buys Electron Vision Corp.: Electron Vision is a San Diego-based company that makes instruments that help stabilize the chemical coatings used on semiconductors and flat-panel displays. Morris Township, N.J.-based AlliedSignal said Electron Vision has a patented technology that, when used with an AlliedSignal chemical, makes chip manufacturing cheaper. AlliedSignal did not disclose the purchase price or any financial details about Electron Vision, and executives at that firm weren’t available to comment. AlliedSignal’s engineered materials unit is one of the leading suppliers to the semiconductor and electronics market, with annual sales of more than $750 million. The move “supports AlliedSignal’s long-term strategy to strengthen our role as a supplier to the approximately $155-billion integrated circuit industry,” AlliedSignal executive Stephen Kirtley said.
