Oracle Corp. Executive Named President: The largest maker of database software selected Raymond Lane, 49, its president of worldwide operations, for the new position of president and chief operating officer. Lane will also head a new management committee that will oversee the companywide integration of key product and market decisions. During the four years Lane has headed worldwide operations, Redwood City, Calif.-based Oracle has become stable and has enjoyed robust sales and profits. Larry Ellison, chairman and chief executive, previously held the title of president. He will retain authority over Oracle’s 3,000-person development staff, with the company’s 20,000 other workers reporting to Lane.
