Pipeline Work May Interrupt Gas Service

A $3.5-million pipeline replacement project could interrupt natural gas service in midtown Ventura over the next couple of weeks, according to a Gas Co. spokeswoman.
The project, to replace two miles of a pre-World War II natural gas line near Telegraph Road between Mills and Hill roads with a 12-inch diameter steel pipe, got underway Wednesday and should be completed by the end of August, said Marcia Secord, a Gas Co. district manager. It is part of a plan to replace 18 miles of the old pipe from Ventura to the county line east of Fillmore, Secord said.
The affected areas in Ventura include portions of Telegraph Road, Glen Ellen Drive, Sheldon Drive, Palomares Avenue, Bryn Mawr Street, Hunter Street and Hill Road. Service interruptions should be minimal, Secord said, and those customers affected will be notified by the utility.
Construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
