Ventura County is creating more businesses than it did a year ago, while California is incorporating companies faster than it has done at any other time in the 1990s, a public records information service reported.

In Ventura County, 344 newly incorporated businesses were registered with the secretary of state during the first five months of this year. That was up 3.6% from 332 for the same period last year, according to Santa Ana-based CDB Infotek.

Statewide, there were 22,107 companies incorporated during the first five months of this year, up 5.8% from the 20,901 filed for the first five months of 1995.

“There are several different factors that lead to growth in new businesses,” said CDB president Rick Rozar. “At this point in the business cycle, California’s growing economy is clearly the reason for the increase.”
