TRW Information Systems Unit Renamed: The Orange-based Information Systems & Services arm of credit-reporting giant TRW Inc. moved a step closer to independence with the choice of the name Experian. The 3,600-employee unit is being spun off and taken private in a $1.1-billion buyout expected to be completed by early October. TRW, based in Cleveland, will continue to hold a minority stake in the data reporting company. The name reflects the company’s “experience and expertise” in the information industry, said George Jurkowich, vice president of communications and a member of the name selection team. He said the company will be registered as Experian Information Solutions Inc. but that the full name will be used only on legal documents.
