McDonnell Douglas Gets Jet Orders From Five Airlines: The St.Louis-based company received about $500 million in orders for commercial aircraft. The orders are for two wide-body MD-11s, four MD-90s and five MD-80s. There are also conditional orders for seven additional MD-90s and options for an additional 10 MD-80s, the company said. The orders are from VASP Brazilian Airlines, TWA, Reno Air and two unidentified customers. The newly ordered MD-11 is believed to have been ordered by Federal Express Corp. The MD-90s are believed to be destined for an Asian buyer. McDonnell Douglas Corp. produces its commercial aircraft at the Douglas Aircraft Co. unit in Long Beach.
