WFS Financial Inc.: The Irvine automobile finance company reported a 41% gain in net income for the second quarter, to $9.7 million, or 42 cents a share, from $6.9 million, or 37 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue increased 58% to $49.9 million from $31.5 million.

For the six-month period, WFS earned $19 million, or 82 cents a share, up 52% from $12.5 million, or 67 cents a share, for the same period of 1995. Revenue rose 67% to $97.4 million from $58.2 million.
