Ceradyne Inc.: The Costa Mesa technical ceramic products company said net income for the second quarter more than doubled to $951,000, or 12 cents a share, from $453,000, or 7 cents a share, a year ago. Sales increased 21% to $7 million from $5.8 million. For the first half of 1996, net income rose to $1.7 million, or 22 cents a share, from $804,000, or 13 cents a share, for the comparable prior year period. Sales rose 20% to $13.3 million from $11.1 million.
