Obituaries : Frank Tapia Fierroz; 22-Year County Resident

Frank Tapia Fierroz, 45, of Santa Paula, died Tuesday as the result of a traffic accident.

Fierroz was born Aug. 12, 1950, in the Central California town of Dinuba, southeast of Fresno. His family later moved to the San Fernando Valley and Fierroz graduated from San Fernando High School, where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America booster club.

A Ventura County resident for 22 years, Fierroz was an avid bowler in Ventura and Santa Paula and enjoyed camping.

Fierroz was in the Navy and served aboard the Dennis J. Buckley during the Vietnam War. He worked as an equipment maintenance worker for the Los Angeles County Fire Department since 1974.

Fierroz is survived by his wife of 21 years, Linda Camacho Fierroz, and son Frank Fierroz Jr., both of Santa Paula; parents Manuel and Lupe Fierroz of Santa Paula; brothers Phillip of Panorama City, Raymond of Van Nuys, and Manuel of Lancaster; sister Lupe “Pita” Flores of Canyon Country; grandmother Manuela Fierroz of Cutler; eight nieces, two nephews, four grandnieces and two grandnephews.

A vigil service will be recited at 7 tonight at St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Santa Paula. The funeral is scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Sebastian with the Rev. James Rothe officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Paula Cemetery.

Friends may call at Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula today from 1 to 5 p.m.
