Businesswoman Pam Campeau is the new chief executive officer of the 650-member Encino Chamber of Commerce, chamber President Chris Hamilton announced.

Beginning Aug. 19, Campeau will replace outgoing CEO Jan Sobel, who is destined for the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. Campeau lists “membership development and retention” as her top goals.

A member of the California Assn. of Chamber of Commerce Executives, Campeau has spent the last six years as the director of administration and membership for the Simi Valley chamber.

Active in the business world for 25 years, Campeau previously worked in personnel for a number of companies. She is a recent graduate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organization and Management, a six-year program run through Stanford and UCLA.

The monthlong search for a new Encino CEO involved screening about 30 candidates from across the country, Hamilton said, adding that Campeau’s “qualifications, experience and presentation really made her an obvious choice.”

Campeau, who lives in Simi Valley, is married and has a grown daughter.
