Chris Komar; Dancer With Merce Cunningham

Chris Komar, 47, dancer and assistant artistic director of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. He had been with the Cunningham troupe since 1972 and had created roles in more than 45 dances. He retired from performing in 1993 but continued to work with the group. He taught for Cunningham and helped with repertory workshops throughout the United States and Europe. He also produced and served as the host for a 1982 cable television program, “Rhythms in Space.” Komar received a Bessie Award in 1991 for his service to dance.
