BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : Brewers’ Seitzer Draws Interest Among Officials

Share

Milwaukee Brewer infielder Kevin Seitzer, a two-time All-Star, has attracted the Dodgers’ interest and emerged Friday as their top candidate if they decide to make a trade.

Seitzer, who is the Brewers’ designated hitter but also can play third base, is batting .340 this season with 10 homers and 48 runs batted in. Most impressive, the Dodgers say, is his .434 on-base percentage. Seitzer’s on-base percentage would rank first among the Dodgers.

Seitzer was brought up in internal discussions with Dodger officials after third baseman Mike Blowers’ season-ending surgery. They intend to talk with the Brewers, but are awaiting to determine whether Mike Busch can become their everyday third baseman.
