Boston Airport Upgrades Security
Logan International Airport on Friday became one of the first U.S. airports to strengthen security by adding bomb-sniffing dogs and undercover patrols to its anti-terrorism system.
Airport officials, speaking a day after President Clinton ordered tighter airport security nationwide in the wake of the explosion of TWA Flight 800, also said they were going to install sophisticated bomb-detecting equipment.
Massachusetts Port Authority Executive Director Stephen Tocco said his goal is “to create a presence that we certainly hope will be identifiable and a deterrent.” State police will be used to augment the normal airport police force, he said.
