Council Absences

Regarding the Los Angeles City Council meeting held at Mission College on July 16 (“Showtime in Sylmar,” July 17):
I am wondering why Councilman Nate Holden and Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas were absent from this meeting. I was under the impression that all our council members were concerned with all districts. Was this a slight on their part or a lack of interest in our northeast Valley District 7?
