Hit the Trail--Crystal Cove State Park is among the last of Orange County’s undeveloped coastlines. The park includes 3 1/4 miles of seashore and 1,140 acres of underwater diving park.

On the inland side of Coast Highway, another 18 miles of trails wind through El Moro Canyon. The trails are open to mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding and offer panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.

Wander along Crystal Cove State Park on an interpretive walk led by rangers. This organized hike through the canyon will be held today from 9 a.m. to noon. The hike will be three to five miles long and last at least two hours. Hiking shoes and drinking water are recommended. Participants should be 8 years or older.

A tide pool walk will take place today from noon to 4 p.m. along Crystal Cove State Park’s area called Rocky Bight. Under low tide conditions, a variety of colorful sea life are visible among the rocks including hermit crabs, sea anemone and starfish.

To get there, take Coast Highway to Crystal Cove State Park. Admission to Moro Canyon is easiest if accessed from the inland parking lot. The park is open from 6 a.m. to sunset daily. For more information on the above hikes, or to arrange special interpretive programs, call (714) 494-3539.

Nature Nights--A naturalist will lead evening hikes at Oak Canyon Nature Center every Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Following the hike, guest speakers will present topics on natural history or the environment. The event is free and open to the public.

Oak Canyon Nature Center is located at 6700 Walnut Canyon Road in Anaheim.

To get there, take the Riverside (91) Freeway to the Imperial Highway turnoff. Exit and head south to Nohl Ranch Road. Turn left and travel about three miles to Walnut Canyon Road, and turn left again. Pass the Anaheim Hills Golf Course; the nature center is at the end of the road, parking is on the left.
